With 25 years of family law experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge, sharp negotiation skills, and a compassionate approach that helps clients feel supported and protected during life’s most challenging moments.

Kathy is a Practice Leader at Orbell Family Lawyers, bringing 25 years of dedicated family law experience to the Newcastle and Central Coast communities. Her career began in Sydney’s top-tier firms, where she developed exceptional technical skills working on large commercial litigation and banking matters. She later spent five years with a national legal firm in Newcastle, specialising in workers’ compensation for major insurer clients. These formative years honed her communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities.

On the Central Coast, Kathy served as director and partner at one of the region’s largest firms, heading their Family Law Practice for a decade before running her own successful boutique practice for twelve years. She has particular expertise in supporting clients affected by domestic violence and is a strong advocate for mediation and alternative dispute resolution.

She has particular expertise in supporting clients affected by domestic violence, approaching these sensitive matters with care and understanding. Her focus is always on protecting her clients and their families while helping them navigate through challenging times towards a positive resolution.

Originally from Sydney’s inner west, Kathy moved to the Central Coast in 1995 and is a proud mother of two and grandmother of three. She also owns a farm on the mid north coast where she raises cattle, and spends her downtime practising Pilates, spending time with her friends and family, and walking with her toy Groodle, Ernie. She’s currently training to walk the Camino in Spain in 2026.
