Maeesha Dhusharima

Associate Solicitor

Maeesha is a family lawyer proudly servicing Newcastle and the Hunter region, specialising in property settlement and combining strategic expertise with empathy to guide clients through separation and financial matters with clarity and confidence.

Maeesha brings over a decade of legal experience across multiple jurisdictions. She is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, a Barrister of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in England, and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Drawing on her diverse international background, she offers a depth of perspective and technical expertise to her family law practice. While family law has been her primary area of practice, she has extensive experience in commercial, business and property law in a Commonwealth jurisdiction. Since moving from the UK to Australia in 2025, she has practised Australian family law solely and exclusively in Newcastle and the Hunter region. This broader experience gives her a comprehensive, well-rounded understanding of each matter, allowing her to guide clients towards outcomes that are legally sound and commercially viable.

Maeesha advises on complex property settlements, including the valuation and disclosure of businesses and associated entities, and complex asset structures. She works collaboratively with forensic accountants and valuation specialists where needed, and regularly represents clients in negotiations and mediations. She is highly skilled in drafting and reviewing complex legal documents to support durable, well-considered outcomes.

Maeesha understands that every client’s circumstances are different, and she tailors her advice to be practical and achievable for clients from all backgrounds and walks of life. She is known for her experience with culturally diverse and inter-religious families, and for distilling complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance.

Calm, considered and empathetic, Maeesha helps clients feel grounded and informed, even in emotionally charged situations. She focuses on resolving matters outside of court wherever possible, achieving timely, practical and commercially sensible outcomes that minimise emotional and financial strain while protecting her clients’ interests and long-term wellbeing. Where litigation is unavoidable, Maeesha is a confident and well-prepared advocate who remains focused on protecting her client’s position.

Outside of work, Maeesha is a passionate traveller, drawn to the culture and history of destinations across Asia and Europe, and is now enjoying discovering her new home of Australia. She has a natural talent for music, enjoys singing, and occasionally plays the piano and violin.

In addition to English, Maeesha is fluent in Bengali.
